ইমন গাজী ২০২৪ সালের গণআন্দোলনে অংশগ্রহণ করে ৫ আগস্ট ঢাকার যাত্রাবাড়ী এলাকায় পুলিশের গুলিতে নিহত হন। নিহত হওয়ার পর থেকে ইমন গাজীর পরিবার চরম দুর্দশায় পড়ে যায়। চার সন্তান নিয়ে তাঁর স্ত্রী শান্তি আকতার মানবেতর জীবনযাপন করতে থাকেন। এমন কঠিন পরিস্থিতিতে কানাডাভিত্তিক মানবিক সহায়তা সংস্থা ICNA Relief Canada-এর সহযোগিতায় Education Development and Services (EDAS) তার পরিবারের পাশে দাঁড়ায়।
ইমন গাজীর বড় মেয়ে, ৬ষ্ঠ শ্রেণিতে অধ্যয়নরত ইশা আক্তারকে EDAS-এর Orphan Support Program-(OSP) এ অন্তর্ভুক্ত করে তার পড়াশোনা, পুষ্টি ও সার্বিক ভরণপোষণের দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করা হয়।
এছাড়াও EDAS-এর Seasonal & Emergency Program-এর আওতায় ইমন গাজীর পরিবারকে এককালীন খাদ্যসামগ্রী ও নগদ অর্থ সহায়তা প্রদান করা হয়। পাশাপাশি দীর্ঘমেয়াদি সহায়তা নিশ্চিত করার লক্ষ্যে EDAS এর Income Generating এবং Livelihood Program-এর মাধ্যমে ইমনের স্ত্রী শান্তি আকতারকে একটি মুদি দোকান করে দেওয়া হয়, যাতে তিনি নিজে আয়ের একটি স্থায়ী উৎস গড়ে তুলতে পারেন।
বর্তমানে ইমন গাজীর পরিবার শান্তি আকতার এর বাবার বাড়িতে, সিলেটে অবস্থান করছেন এবং নতুনভাবে জীবন গুছিয়ে নেওয়ার চেষ্টা করছেন।
From Grief to Hope — Supporting the Family of Emon Gazi
Martyr Emon Gazi was tragically killed on August 5, 2024, during the mass movement in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area, when police opened fire on protesters. Following his death, his family fell into extreme hardship. His wife, Shanti Akter, was left struggling to survive with their four children in dire conditions.
In this critical situation, Education Development and Services (EDAS), with the support of the Canadian humanitarian organization ICNA Relief Canada, stepped in Supporting the Family of Emon Gazi.
EDAS enrolled Emon Gazi’s eldest daughter, Isha Akter, a student of Grade 6, into its Orphan Support Program (OSP), taking full responsibility for her education, nutrition, and overall care.
In addition, through its Seasonal & Emergency Program, EDAS provided one-time food and financial assistance to the family. To ensure long-term sustainability, EDAS supported Shanti Akter by establishing a small grocery shop for her under its Income Generating and Livelihood Program, enabling her to build a stable source of income.
Currently, the family is residing at Shanti Akter’s parental home in Sylhet, trying to rebuild their lives with renewed hope.
