রোহিঙ্গা ক্যাম্পে সংঘটিত সাম্প্রতিক অগ্নিকাণ্ডে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত পরিবারগুলোর প্রতি আমরা গভীর সমবেদনা জানাচ্ছি। এই দুর্ঘটনা আবারও ক্যাম্পে বসবাসরত শরণার্থীদের নাজুক জীবন বাস্তবতার কথা আমাদের স্মরণ করিয়ে দেয়।

প্রাথমিক তথ্য অনুযায়ী, ২০ জানুয়ারি ২০২৬ ভোর আনুমানিক ৩:০০ টায় কক্সবাজারের রোহিঙ্গা ক্যাম্পের ক্যাম্প-১৬ এর D2, D3 ও D4 ব্লকে অগ্নিকাণ্ডের সূত্রপাত হয়। এ ঘটনায় কোনো প্রাণহানি না ঘটলেও ৫ জন সামান্য আহত হয়েছেন। আগুনে বহু পরিবার তাদের ঘরবাড়ি, প্রয়োজনীয় সামগ্রী ও জীবনের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উপকরণ হারিয়েছেন।

ঘটনার খবর পাওয়ার পরপরই Education Development and Services (EDAS)-এর স্বেচ্ছাসেবক দল ঘটনাস্থল পরিদর্শন করে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত পরিবারগুলোর খোঁজখবর নেয় এবং পরিস্থিতি পর্যবেক্ষণ করে। EDAS এই কঠিন সময়ে ক্ষতিগ্রস্তদের পাশে থাকার দৃঢ় অঙ্গীকার ব্যক্ত করছে এবং প্রয়োজনীয় মানবিক সহায়তা নিশ্চিত করতে সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষ ও অংশীদারদের সঙ্গে সমন্বয় করছে।

We extend our deepest sympathy to the families affected by the recent fire incident in the Rohingya camp. The incident once again highlights the vulnerability and challenges faced by displaced communities living in the camps.

According to initial reports, the fire broke out at approximately 3:00 AM on January 20, 2026, in Blocks D2, D3, and D4 of Camp-16 in Cox’s Bazar. While no fatalities were reported, five individuals sustained minor injuries, and numerous families lost their shelters and essential household items.

Following the incident, volunteers from Education Development and Services (EDAS) promptly visited the fire-affected area to assess the situation and check on the well-being of the affected families. EDAS remains committed to standing beside the victims during this difficult time and is coordinating with relevant authorities and partners to provide necessary humanitarian assistance.
